Often discussed with clients is whether they should spend money on a handbag. It is a hard thing to come to terms with when you just need a serious update in clothes let alone spend another… maybe $1000 on a purse… I do get this, really I do. Investing in a bag may take some time, it might not be the FIRST thing you need, but having a good handbag holds a valid place in your wardrobe. I have seen more than my fair share of crappy handbags in peoples wardrobes that DO NOT stand the test of time. Investing in a classic bag -that will last- means buying REAL leather and definitely not a fake designer bag. I love seeing clients with vintage handbags and clutches passed down from their grandmothers..these ones we keep because they are well made and classic. That purse you bought on Canal street 10 years ago when you went to New York really must go. Here are my list of worthy investments.

The Classic Chanel Flap Purse (with chain strap). Around $2600. This is on my list, actually at the top (now that a certain amazing someone got me that lovely watch). I would tell anyone who could afford this bag to buy it. It is so chic and will NEVER go out of style.

Proenza Schouler PS 1. Ok, I’ll admit everyone who knows me, knows I love this bag(I have it in black). I’m telling you it’s still cool. It’s classic and understated. I may need this color now.$1850

I love Chloe bags. I was obsessed with getting the “Marcie” a few years back. Now I am currently obsessed with the “Vanessa”. This style is perfect for “moms on the go” with the cross body strap and it looks like it could carry everything you need. $1695

Givenchy. Oh how I love this brand. I love this style the “nightingale”. It’s big enough to carry your whole life and cool enough to make a statement. $1965

3.0 Philip Lim The Pashli $995. We have this style at The Room and I have to say it’s one of my favourites. It can fit a laptop or an ipad and it adds a little fashion to your look for a somewhat smaller price point.

Classic Coach Bucket Bag. I like Coach. But I only like the vintage classic styles. I would recommend this one if you want a good leather bag and you don’t care about labels. This one will stand the test of time. Under $500.
